Seek First to Understand, Then Be Understood
March 31st, 2010 | Add a Comment
I take the title and subject of this topic from a subject in Stephen Covey’s Seven Habits of Highly Successful People. It is so important to have a habit of seeking to understand the other person before being understood, that this point cannot be emphasized enough. Why is this? Because every one of us wants to be understood. Yet another person looking to be understood is like finding a needle in a haystack. However, he or she who is seeking to understand is as rare as a fine jewel, and even more coveted. The world is full of people who want to be heard and understood, but the person who seeks to understand can stand out from amongst the crowd and shine. Furthermore, this person can and will be of … Read entire article »

Right, Wrong, Good, Bad: Perspective or Absolute?
March 29th, 2010 | 4 Comments
We all strive to make the “right move”, do the “right thing”, be “good”, avoid what is “wrong”, and attempt not to be “bad”. It all sounds very simple initially when put this way; nothing could be further from the truth. The fact is, we suffer from a malady of attempting to do what is “right” and “good” and even attempting to force others outside of ourselves to do what we see as right and good. The inherent problem with this is that we are not carbon copies of each other, and our circumstances vary widely. As human beings we can agree on basic things such as clean air, clean water, and moderate exercise or activity being good for one’s health. We are not as fortunate to have everything be that cut and … Read entire article »

Joining The Infinite Field
March 22nd, 2010 | Add a Comment
Last week, I joined the Infinite Field Radio Network, taking my “What If God Were One Of Us?” talk show to the prestigious network run by Synolve Craft and her husband Milton Craft. I am very excited about being part of the Infinite Field Radio Network, already being a contributor to The Infinte Field Magazine (TIFM), and having a great chemistry with Synolve and the other hosts and contributors. To be part of such a talented and giving group of metaphysicians and new thought practicioners is an awesome experience. Metaphysics can be presented to the reader and listener in so many ways, and to be able to add my knowledge and presentation style to The Infinite Field makes me feel right at home. I invite everyone to visit the Infinite Field Radio Network … Read entire article »

The Dracula Effect: Our Relationship With Vampires
March 10th, 2010 | Add a Comment
[The following is a reprint from an earlier article I wrote that I thought would be quite relevant and timely.] Alright, now that I have your attention, you are probably wondering what in the world I am speaking about vampires for. There is a relationship between this mythological creature and what many of us experience in our daily lives. I am going to call it “The Dracula Effect”. The Dracula Effect is what we experience when we allow people into our lives that have no life of their own but instead suck the very life blood out of us, and such is the basis of their relationship with us. Now of course most of us would say “I don’t know anyone like that in my life”, but The Dracula Effect makes … Read entire article »

Whatever You Have Done For One Of The Least Of These…
March 6th, 2010 | 2 Comments
Many may recognize the words that make up the title of this article to be the beginning of a quote attributed to Jesus. The context is a discourse Jesus is having with his disciples in the course of speaking about separating the ‘sheep’ from the ‘goats’. He presents a parable of servants who are before a king, and being told that they fed him when he was hungry, gave him water when he was thirsty, clothed him when he was naked, and tended to him when he was sick and in prison, and the servants respond in a confused state, not knowing when they did these things for the king. He responds: whatever you have done for one of the least of these, meaning the meekest of my followers, you have also done these things for me. … Read entire article »
