Thanks for mentioning that. I did not think about COPS but you are absolutely right. In the context of social masks I think the Real world-type shows seemed to resonate more in a sense because we got to see more of the interactions and more range of emotions than in COPS or dating game. But I completely understand what you are saying. Thank you.

Thank you Kaveh for your comment and for the compliment! There is an art to removing the social masks that many people wear, that helps many who watch.

Just an FYI: the first reality show in the current era-style was actually COPS, but most people don’t bring that one to mind. I didn’t either until it was brought to my attention. Earlier shows that could be considered early reality shows were The Dating Game and The Newlywed Game, although those were different in that they were in game show format, and Candid Camera.

Listen, you’re comparing an entire stable, technologically advanced continent to rural tribes in Africa. That’s just silly. It’s fine there, sure, but it’s unnecessary here. Also, young girls in North America have options other than forced marriage, unlike most African tribes …like, say, pursuing an education, studying robotics, trading stocks, becoming an architect, even stripping if they so desire. It’s not right or wrong…simply very different places, with very different customs.

Wonderful article especially your dissection of the social mask. I find that, as you pointed out, lack of self-discovery and purpose easily leads living one’s life through others. The idea of a “reality show” in he US started with that great show on MTV “real life” and that first season was the best as it actually captured people in their real selves without their masks. Self-discoveries were moving. It takes courage now, for the audience, to step of the current reality show abyss and realize that the time spent utilizing the immense power within each individual to create something wonderful is limitless. Thank you for sharing you thoughts.

This is a beautiful article Lorna. I’m so glad Adeeb shared it!
I am a sacred channeler, and my Spirit Guides often point out exactly what it is you have so thoughtfully described here. We are composed of so many thoughts and feelings, and as many of us know, 90% of our thinking takes place in the subconscious mind. Hard to keep track of all of that!

But as you say, when we continue to work towards wholeness and understand that the totality of our vibration is what magnetizes the energy back to us, we begin to understand the occurrences in our lives that had been so mysterious before. I love the image of the lock and key!

There are so many wonderful things that can happen when we operate fully in the law of attraction. The laws that govern our world allow us to create and define our own reality. When we turn our attention and “tune” our attention to what it is we want, then we can deliberately invite things into our experience and deliberately create through the art of allowing. Guiding our lives through intention and holding our thoughts at a vibration of what we desire and what we want is the key to unlocking the door to the life we really dream through our feelings. We already creating our reality through our feelings and thought vibration. Harnessing the power of attraction and art of allowing brings into our lives that which is *Like* the essence of our thoughts, beliefs, and feelings. Our offering of vibrations through our thoughts brings to us the things we experience each day. LOA is a universal law that when applied deliberately result in the life that you desire.
