Book excerpt from: What If God Were One Of Us?-2nd Edition by Adeeb Shabazz

Who are you? Who are you really? Religious leaders tell us we are merely lowly creatures, created by an omnipotent God that lives in a realm we can never truly reach until we die, if we are of the fortunate ones. Scientists tell us we are merely the product of evolution and that our thought and intelligence is completely biologically based: developed in a random evolutionary process that has us where we are today. Many simply choose to accept these basic viewpoints, or variations within those frameworks to explain our existence. However for some, those explanations are seriously lacking, and in our case we seek a more complete definition and meaning for our lives. The Bible-which includes the Jewish Torah or Old Testament, and the Qur’an are the holy books … Read entire article »

Book Review: The Third Jesus by Deepak Chopra

The Third Jesus: The Christ We Cannot Ignore, is a metaphysical masterpiece, bringing Jesus to the practical minded while still honoring the religious devotee’s viewpoint of Jesus. The book points out the first Jesus, which of course is the historical Jesus who lived over two millenia ago, and whose appearance on this Earth laid the foundation for Christian thought. This first Jesus is based upon the historical data we have about the man called Jesus that lived amongst the people of Palestine 2000 years ago. Dr. Chopra moves on to present the second Jesus, who is the revered Son of God, who the actual religious teachings of Christianity are based upon, and whom Christians revere until this day. This second Jesus is shaped and formed not necessarily from the historical Jesus, but from a list of scriptural … Read entire article »

He responds: whatever you have done for one of the least of these, meaning the meekest of my followers, you have also done these things for me. … Read entire article »

Sinning Is For Sinners

The concept of Original Sin is one that has always been a disturbing one to me, since most adherents claim that we are all sinners since this first man called Adam sinned and therefore we have inherited sin, and furthermore that the only way we shall overcome this sin is to “accept the Lord Jesus Christ” as our Savior. Such oversimplicity is no better than pop culture to a people who need constructive guidance to build their lives, their families and their communities. The story of Adam and Eve is a great display of how man and woman allowed duality into their thinking and separated themselves from God Consciousness, thus causing their “fall” from paradise (direct connection with Source) and their subsequent thrust into toil and labor. Religion is placed between … Read entire article »
